House of birth
With the Bethesda Birth Centre, we offer you a unique regional concept: you will be accompanied by midwives throughout the entire period of pregnancy, birth, postpartum and breastfeeding and at the same time know that you are in the immediate vicinity of the Bethesda Hospital maternity clinic. This combination makes the Haus der Geburt Bethesda particularly attractive, as it gives parents-to-be an additional sense of security.
We support and encourage you as an expectant mother, as an expectant father and as a couple to build up an intensive emotional bond with your child at an early stage. We are always happy to address your personal concerns and take plenty of time to answer your questions and fulfil your individual needs and wishes.

The "Haus der Geburt" is a pioneering project in the collaboration between independent midwives and a maternity clinic. The "Haus der Geburt" in Basel combines the strengths of a typical birth centre with the facilities and infrastructure of a maternity clinic - kwasi "the fiver and the Weggli".
During the birth, you will be cared for by your trusted midwife. Two midwives are present at the end of the birth.
You get to know your two midwives during your pregnancy. They accompany you through pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period.
No, we midwives do not carry out ultrasound examinations ourselves. If you are planning a birth at the Haus der Geburt, you can have the ultrasound examination carried out at Bethesda Hospital or by your gynaecologist. We will be happy to organise the ultrasound appointment for you, you do not need to worry about it for the time being.
It is very rare for an emergency situation to occur completely unexpectedly during labour.
As a rule, there are signs so that the midwife can initiate appropriate measures at an early stage. The possibility of a rapid transfer to Bethesda Hospital, just a few metres away, is then certainly a huge advantage. Mother and child can then be transferred almost seamlessly to the labour ward
