Founded over 100 years ago, Bethesda Hospital is now one of the leading clinics in north-west Switzerland. Bethesda Spital has a long-standing and successful partnership with Basel University Hospital. The partnership was consolidated in 2022 through a shareholding by Basel University Hospital in Bethesda Spital AG. Patients and employees benefit from the pooling of expertise between the two hospitals. This further development will strengthen university medicine in the Basel region in the long term. Thomas Rudin is at the helm; the Chairman of the Board of Directors is Werner Kübler from the USB.
Bethesda Hospital is certified as a "Member of the Swiss Leading Hospitals" and is open to patients of all insurance classes. In the ranking of the US news magazine "Newsweek", the hospital appears among the "World's Best Hospitals 2025" in two categories.

Bethesda Hospital combines the advantages of a traditional affiliated hospital with the benefits of our in-house team in clinics run by head physicians. Our patients decide before admission whether they want to be treated by our in-house team (employed doctors and midwives from the hospital) and/or by one of our affiliated doctors and midwives.
