Competent and empathetic - nursing care at Bethesda Hospital

Around 200 dedicated nursing staff work at Bethesda Hospital and dedicate their expertise to our patients every day. With a mix of highly trained nursing staff, students and apprentices, we achieve an ideal combination of different competences and skills.

In all our nursing activities, the focus is always on the individual. Involving our patients in the care process and having a say in decisions is a matter of course for our nursing staff. A patient relationship characterised by respect and empathy is central to this.

We provide the best development opportunities: As an attractive employer, we create ideal prospects for our nursing staff with a wide range of training and further education programmes and thus the best conditions for the well-being of our patients.

Questions for Barbara Simon-Halbe, Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) and member of the hospital management team

Our nursing service is based on the magnet hospital criteria with the aim of providing excellent patient care. Structurally, we have created the conditions for new knowledge to flow into practice and for improvements to be implemented quickly. A family atmosphere and a high level of co-operation between the departments, as well as the visible presence of the department heads, promotes a climate of trust within the teams.

The establishment of nursing experts in the departments. They provide expertise in the form of advice, guidance, consultation and coaching for departmental staff. they take over case management in particularly challenging nursing situations and promote the transfer of knowledge so that the expertise arrives directly "at the bedside and at the patient".

Our organisational structures promote interprofessional cooperation. The expertise of nursing staff is valued and nursing is represented on internal hospital committees and commissions.

We support and encourage nurses in their further development through targeted training programmes and individual career planning.
