The two Breast Care Nurses take a lot of time to listen to patients' fears and concerns and provide help with all kinds of questions: for example, the women concerned deal with the side effects of the various treatments and what they can do about them. Alternative and complementary medical options are a recurring topic. The same applies to the question of cosmetic options if all or part of a breast has to be removed.
The Breast Care Nurses then refer them to our psychological support at the Breast Centre and help - on request - during this difficult and stressful time.
The aim of our Breast Care Nurses is to ensure that our patients feel that they are in good hands at all times.
Our Breast Care Nurses are nurses who specialise in providing support, information and advice to women with breast cancer. They look after the affected woman from diagnosis to the end of treatment and are also available for discussions by telephone or in person between appointments.
Our Breast Care Nurses are also responsible for fitting prostheses and aids. They also arrange appointments, make contact with support centres, coordinate discussions with doctors, provide information material and are available to talk to.
We work closely with the medical and nursing teams in related areas. Together, we work hard for you - so you are always in the best of hands with us and receive the treatment that is tailored to your illness. We work on an interdisciplinary basis in the following areas:

Patientinnen aus dem Kanton Baselstadt die über 50 sind, können alle 2 Jahre ohne Überweisung sich beim Mammographie-Screening anmelden.
Das Brustzentrum Basel Bethesda Spital hat ein gynäkologisches Ärzteteam bestehend aus zwei Gynäkologinnen und einem Gynäkologen. Sie erhalten dann die Telefonnummer des diensthabenden Arzt/diensthabenden Ärztin und dürfen sich dann direkt in der Praxis melden und erhalten zeitnah einen Termin.
Breast Care Nurse sind Pflegeexpertinnen für Brustkrebserkrankungen. Sie sind speziell ausgebildet um die Patientinnen in jeglichen Phasen der Erkrankung zu betreuen. Ein wichtiges Anliegen ist, die Patientinnen mit all ihren Sorgen und Ängsten wahr zu nehmen und auf ihre individuellen Bedürfnissen einzugehen.
Als Ansprech- und Bezugsperson begleiten unsere beiden Breast Care Nurses Rita Schnyder und Noemi Eisenring die Patientinnen durch den gesamten Versorgungsprozess – also vor, während und nach dem Spitalaufenthalt. Während der stationären Phase sehen sie die Patientinnen täglich. Nach dem Austritt sind sie weiterhin für unsere Patientinnen da und bieten ihre Unterstützung an.
Die beiden Pflegefachfrauen nehmen sich viel Zeit für die Ängste und Sorgen der Patientinnen und geben Hilfestellungen zu allen möglichen Fragen: Zum Beispiel beschäftigen sich die betroffenen Frauen mit den Nebenwirkungen der verschiedenen Behandlungen und damit, was sie dagegen tun können. Alternative und komplementärmedizinische Angebote sind immer wieder ein Thema. Ebenso die Frage nach den kosmetischen Möglichkeiten, wenn eine Brust ganz oder teilweise entfernt werden muss. Die Breast Care Nurses weisen sie dann auf unsere psychologische Unterstützung am Brustzentrum hin und helfen – auf Wunsch – während dieser schwierigen und belastenden Zeit. Das Ziel unserer Breast Care Nurses ist, dass sich unsere Patientinnen jederzeit bei uns gut aufgehoben fühlen.
Das Themengebiet ist umfangreich. Es geht von Gesprächen zur Entscheidungsfindung der Therapieform, Unterstützung bei Nebenwirkungen der Therapien, Informationen bezüglich Hilfsmitteln und Hilfsangeboten, psychosoziale Unterstützung und die Kontaktvermittlung zu weiteren Diensten (Sozialdienst, Psychoonkologie, Orthopädiefachgeschäft uvm.).
Die Kosten werden von der Krankenkasse übernommen.
