Dr Marco Bachmann elected to the Basel Psychiatry Commission
Since 2009, the Basel-Stadt Department of Health has set up a Psychiatry Commission to optimise cooperation in psychiatric care. The aim of the Basel Psychiatry Commission is to provide a platform for the coordination and cooperation of all service providers, patients and relatives of patients in the Basel psychiatric region. Dr Marco Bachmann, Head of Psychiatry & Psychosomatics, is a new member of this commission
The tasks and objectives of the Psychiatry Commission in detail:
- The commission is committed to modern, integrated psychiatric care and fosters the exchange of information on topics, issues and bottlenecks in psychiatric care in the region. It discusses issues relating to the co-operation and coordination of service providers, discusses the care situation, points out deficiencies in care and develops proposals for solutions. In addition, the commission works on topics related to projects from the Basel-Stadt Department of Health (GGR) and can submit proposals to the organisations involved in the region and the Basel-Stadt Department of Health.
- The commission works to improve public understanding of the concerns of psychiatric care and the organisations involved. In this way, it helps to reduce the stigmatisation of the mentally ill.
- As part of the service agreement, the Psychiatry Commission accepts orders from the Basel-Stadt Department of Health, is consulted by it as a consultative body and assumes an advisory role.
- The Commission supports cooperation in the region with the relevant authorities in neighbouring cantons.
We would like to congratulate Marco Bachmann on this responsible task and wish him every success.
