Dr Oliver Fiebig - new Head of Spinal Surgery at Bethesda Hospital
On 1 August 2021, we welcomed Dr Oliver Fiebig to Bethesda Hospital as Head of Spinal Surgery. Dr Fiebig is a FMH specialist in orthopaedic surgery and traumatology of the musculoskeletal system and a proven specialist in the field of spinal surgery.
After 18 months at the Swiss Paraplegic Centre in Nottwil with Dr Patrick Moulin, he moved to the Cantonal Hospital of Graubünden in Chur for three years, where he trained in the interdisciplinary intensive care unit and the surgical emergency ward, among other things. Dr Fiebig has been working at the University Hospital Basel since 2008. He initially worked in traumatology and later in rehabilitation at Felix Platter Hospital before moving to spinal surgery under Professor Bernhard Jeanneret, where he was promoted to senior consultant in 2012.
Oliver Fiebig is also a certified SIM medical assessor and was an ATLS (Advanced Trauma Life Support) instructor for many years. In recent years, he has performed or instructed more than 1,000 spinal operations, was involved in quality assurance for spinal surgery at the USB and was a consultant physician for Rehab Basel for 9 years.
Dr Fiebig will represent spinal surgery at Bethesda Hospital together with Dr Juliet Kahnt.
