Fair Trade products available in our restaurant
At Bethesda Hospital, we offer our patients and visitors FAIR TRADE coffee, chocolate and orange juice. The range is constantly being expanded. With our commitment, together with other companies in the city, we are helping to ensure that Basel will hopefully soon be able to call itself a "FAIR TRADE TOWN".
Swiss cities and municipalities receive the Fair Trade Town award for their special commitment to fair trade. This promotes sustainable, fair consumption and involves the whole community.
With Fair Trade, people all over the world can earn an income through their labour that secures a decent existence for them and their families and offers a real chance of improving their standard of living in the long term.

- Long-term, stable and partnership-based trade relations that give producers in the South fair access to the world market.
- Fair and transparent prices as well as the possibility of pre-financing in order to secure the economic existence of producers and small farmers.
- Social working conditions and compliance with ILO conventions against forced labour, discrimination, child labour, etc., which improve the livelihoods and working environment of factory and plantation workers.
- Sustainable cultivation methods with high quality standards that fulfil the needs of consumers in the purchasing countries.
- Regular inspections along the entire Fair Trade production chain so that consumers can be guaranteed compliance with Fair Trade standards.
