Over 2000 births a year on the Bethesda Campus for the first time

Erstmals über 2000 Geburten im Jahr auf dem Bethesda Campus.
Erstmals über 2000 Geburten im Jahr auf dem Bethesda Campus.

With 2020 newborns, 1009 girls and 1011 boys, Bethesda Hospital, together with the Bethesda House of Birth, exceeded the mark of 2000 babies per year for the first time last year. The most popular names for girls were Mia (16), Emilia (13) and Sofia (12). For boys, Liam and Elias (13 each) shared first place, closely followed by Noah (12) and Matteo (11).

The continuous increase in births (2018: 1917 births, 2019: 1885 births and 2020: 1903 births) is due not only to the excellent care provided but also to the continuous expansion of all aspects of pregnancy & birth on the Bethesda Campus, which has met the needs of expectant parents in the Basel area with the opening of the midwife-led Haus der Geburt Bethesda and the construction of a fifth birthing room at Bethesda Hospital.

Even though every single birth is something very special, the result of 2020 babies (2008 births) in one year is only possible thanks to the excellent cooperation between us. We would therefore like to thank all midwives, attending midwives, nursing staff, breastfeeding consultants, attending doctors, doctors from the in-house team and our paediatricians for their excellent cooperation.

Information evenings for expectant parents

Bethesda Hospital organises monthly information evenings on individual birth-related services. Our team of head obstetrician, a midwife, a paediatrician and an inhouse doctor will inform you about birth and your stay at Bethesda Hospital.
