Specialists in gynaecology are responsible for the medical care of women with medical problems specific to women from childhood to old age.

Yes, it means the same thing.

From the age of 21 or if you have regular sexual intercourse, it is advisable to have a screening examination every one to two years. If there are bleeding irregularities or breast/abdominal complaints, the examination should be carried out earlier. Regular check-ups with a gynaecologist are particularly important for the early detection of breast and cervical cancer.

There is no general answer to this question. If a doctor chooses to practise as a gynaecologist and obstetrician, he or she, like a gynaecologist, has high expectations of themselves, commitment and often great idealism.

In difficult situations, a good gynaecologist will also support their patients emotionally. Conversely, in order to be able to help effectively, doctors need a certain emotional distance from their patients.

In short, the professional and human quality of treatment does not differ between (good) gynaecologists. The fact that some women feel more comfortable with a female gynaecologist is mainly due to the intimacy associated with gynaecological examinations and treatments.

Generally speaking, the "chemistry" between you and your doctor must be right. The decision in favour of a particular doctor and their practice often has to do with a personal "gut feeling".

Attending physicians provide outpatient medical services as independent sole proprietorships, not only in their own practice but also in a hospital (outpatient or inpatient). In accordance with a contractual agreement, they are authorised to treat their own patients there and use the institution's infrastructure.

What to do with urinary incontinence? Losing urine involuntarily is a taboo. Yet around one in three women is affected and can get help. We always treat affected people with various conservative methods - for example, by adjusting the amount they drink or with targeted bladder training.

In addition, various forms of electrostimulation are possible, as well as medical support. If these methods do not work, surgery can also help. For example, a bladder tape can be inserted to support the urethra.

Yes, there are effective treatments for all forms, both conservative and surgical.

Typical symptoms of cystitis are

  • Pain or burning when urinating
  • difficult urination (dysuria)
  • constant urge to urinate
  • Urge to urinate at night
  • Pain and cramps in the bladder area

The simplest treatment is to drink more to flush the bacteria out of the bladder. However, as this is usually painful, you can also alleviate the symptoms for a few days with painkillers, decongestants or antibiotics. If more than two inflammations occur in six months or more than three per year, this is a chronic form. In chronic cases, prophylactic measures should be prioritised. Do not hesitate to contact our specialised team for advice.

If blood is still detectable or pain persists even after the inflammation has healed, a cystoscopy is certainly advisable.

Breast care nurses are nursing experts for breast cancer. They are specially trained to care for patients in all phases of the disease. An important concern is to recognise the patients with all their worries and fears and to respond to their individual needs.

Our two Breast Care Nurses, Rita Schnyder and Noemi Eisenring, accompany patients throughout the entire care process - before, during and after hospitalisation. During the inpatient phase, they see the patients every day. After discharge, they continue to be there for our patients and offer their support.

The two nurses take a lot of time to listen to the patients' fears and concerns and provide help with all kinds of questions: for example, the women concerned deal with the side effects of the various treatments and what they can do about them. Alternative and complementary medical options are a recurring topic. The same applies to the question of cosmetic options if all or part of a breast has to be removed. The Breast Care Nurses then refer them to our psychological support at the Breast Centre and help - on request - during this difficult and stressful time. The aim of our Breast Care Nurses is to ensure that our patients feel that they are in good hands at all times.

The range of topics is extensive. It ranges from discussions on deciding on the form of therapy, support with side effects of the therapies, information on aids and support services, psychosocial support and the provision of contacts to other services(social services, psycho-oncology, orthopaedic specialist shops and much more).
