Newborn photography by BabyCute at Bethesda Hospital
Ein professionelles Babyshooting hat einen unbezahlbaren Erinnerungswert
At Bethesda Hospital, new mums and dads have the opportunity to receive a professional newborn photo shoot as a gift. The beautiful pictures capture this unique moment forever in a very emotional way.
Parents can have the photo shoot during their stay in hospital or at a later date without any complications and free of charge.
Alois Kaufmann is the founder of BabyCute, our service provider for newborn photography at Bethesda Hospital. We interviewed Mr Kaufmann to find out more about BabyCute and its services.
Mr Kaufmann, they say that photographing children and animals can be the most difficult thing. Is newborn photography similarly challenging?
Oh, I can certainly confirm that. The tasks that our photographers master every day are primarily wonderful and also a privilege. But the shoots are also quite challenging. For example, not every baby is in the mood for a shoot or the mother is still exhausted from the birth and would prefer to continue the shoot later. These are all situations in which our photographers are absolute professionals and know how to deal with them very well.
«It is a privilege to photograph the many sweet newborns and it also requires trust from the parents. But we assure them that our photographers are specially trained in dealing with newborns and are very caring towards the new arrivals.»
Alois Kaufmann, founder of BabyCute
The pictures are reminiscent of the Australian photographer Anne Geddes, who became world-famous with her pictures - were these pictures an inspiration?
Unfortunately, I don't know this woman. However, in our company we have invested a lot of work in developing our photography and our own style. The model for this was professional newborn photography in the USA. This type of photography has a long tradition there. It is extremely important to us that our photo shoots, despite the hospital conditions, come as close as possible to the quality that would otherwise be expected from studio photos. I am pleased that our efforts in this direction are being recognised - the feedback we receive on a daily basis is extremely positive.
What prompted you to make this statement? At some point it was time to rethink newborn clinic photography and develop a new concept?
About 10 years ago, I became aware of newborn photography. A clinic approached me and asked if I would be interested in organising this for them. During my research, I came across a lot of negative reports in connection with clinic photography. The primary reason was a provider who had a relatively aggressive sales concept. Obviously too aggressive for us in Switzerland. Many clinics were keen to move away from this concept and were open to new solutions - that was our opportunity.
«The mums decide without pressure and at their leisure whether they want to order something or not.»
Alois Kaufmann, founder BabyCute
How does your concept set you apart from other providers?
I think we all put our heart and soul into our daily work. We are not an anonymous company. We are always in dialogue with each other, with the mothers and our clinics. This gives us plenty of room for special requests and allows us to adapt quickly to new circumstances if necessary. We put a lot of energy into optimising our photography. This includes new "poses" of the babies, which we teach our photographers, but also the careful selection of accessories that we use in our photo shoots. There is a big difference between taking photos on a white bed sheet and in a mobile photo studio, as we have in our partner clinics. Our mobile studio, which is used in the clinics, is unique and offers everything you need for professional photography.
In addition to our distinctive style, we offer a versatile range of products at a range of prices. Our photo books are handcrafted by graphic designers. Choosing the right layout for the right photos requires a trained eye. Of course, it should also be emphasised that we do not use any form of commercial printing. We take photos and then hand over a code for our website/webshop. The mums decide at their leisure whether they want to order something or not and receive the best photo printed out free of charge on the spot.
