Volunteering: a gift of humanity

Volunteering is more than just a commitment - it is a gift of time, humanity and compassion. At the Bethesda Hospital Palliative Care Centre, volunteers play an indispensable role in the lives of seriously ill people and their relatives.

The role of volunteers

Volunteers have been an integral part of the multi-professional team since the palliative care centre was founded. With their support, they build bridges between everyday hospital life and the outside world. They give time, comfort and often a new perspective. Be it through conversations, walks or creative activities - their presence makes a noticeable difference.

Volunteers also provide support in challenging moments, for example by providing company at night or sitting vigils when patients are plagued by anxiety or fear. Their work is an essential part of preserving patients' dignity and quality of life.

Motivation and qualifications

There are many reasons for volunteering: the desire to help others, personal development or the need to deal with existential issues such as illness and the end of life. Volunteers at the Bethesda Hospital Palliative Care Centre undergo in-depth basic training in palliative care in order to be optimally prepared. Supplementary courses and regular dialogue help them to further develop their skills.

Together for a better quality of life

Whether as conversation partners, companions on walks or supporters of activities - volunteers are an indispensable part of the Bethesda Hospital Palliative Care Centre. Their commitment not only brings joy and comfort, but also creates moments of hope and solidarity.

Are you interested in volunteering? The Bethesda Hospital Palliative Care Centre looks forward to hearing from you.
