New COO and CHRO at Bethesda Hospital

The Board of Directors of Bethesda Spital AG, Basel, has appointed Dr Henrik Pfahler, EMBA HSG, as the new Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Ueli Zehnder as the new Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO). Both will become members of the six-person hospital management team.

New Chief Operating Officer

For the past four years, Mr Pfahler has been Head of the Management Staff and a member of the Hospital Management at the University Hospital Basel. In addition to heading the Corporate Development and Marketing and Communications departments, he was also responsible for developing the corporate strategy.

After completing his doctorate in 2010, Mr Pfahler continued his education on a regular basis, including completing an Executive MBA at the University of St. Gallen in 2015.

Ueli Zehnder

New Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO)

Mr Zehnder was most recently Head of HR Services at the Insel Group, Berne, and previously Head of HR Services at Baden Cantonal Hospital. In addition to his Master of Business Administration (MBA), he completed an Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) specialising in management and leadership.

Thomas Rudin is at the helm; the Chairman of the Board of Directors is Werner Kübler from the USB.

Bethesda Hospital is certified as a "Member of the Swiss Leading Hospitals" and is open to patients of all insurance classes. In the ranking of the US news magazine "Newsweek", the hospital appears among the "World's Best Hospitals 2023" in two categories.
